Welcome to the Class of 2021 Early NSD tracker! Here, we’ll be posting live updates on everything that happens related to the Florida Gators’ 2021 recruiting class. As we’ve done every year since our inception, we’ll be providing a running list of things that happen in the world of Florida recruiting as arguably the biggest day of Florida recruiting progresses, so keep checking back here for updates as the day progresses.
7:12am: Offensive lineman Jake Slaughter gets the gold medal and becomes the first to send in his letter of intent.
7:18am: Safety Donovan McMillon gets the silver medal, as the second Gator to send in his letter of intent
7:31am: Long snapper Rocco Underwood gets the bronze, becoming the third Gator to send in his letter of intent.
7:39am: Offensive lineman Yousef Mugharbil has sent in his letter of intent.
7:51am: Tight end Gage Wilcox has sent in his letter of intent.
7:57am: Back to back tight ends have entered the chat! Nick Elksinis has sent in his letter of intent, officially completing his flip from Penn State.
8:02am: big picture update. Most of Florida’s currently committed members of the 2021 class are expected to sign today. A couple that are not thought to be announcing are WR Charles Montgomery and OL Javonte Gardner. Several other guys that Florida is considered to be in the running for, including DE Bryce Langston (a former commit), OT Tristan Leigh and S Terrion Arnold, are expected to announce at later times.
8:15am: Florida is really only in the running for two new players (as in, not already committed to Florida) today. Five star linebacker Xavian Sorey is expected to announce his plans just before 2pm EST, and prized defensive end Tunmise Adeleye is going to announce tonight on ESPN around 8:30pm EST. Additionally, Florida has dreams of flipping a pair of four stars from rival schools. LSU commit Keanu Koht will declare his final decision around 10:00am, and Miami commit Brashard Smith will do the same a few minutes before noon.
8:36am: Defensive tackle Desmond Watson has sent in his letter of intent.
9:26am: Defensive tackle Christopher Thomas has sent in his letter of intent, bringing the total up to eight Gator commits-turned-signees.
9:32am: Wide receiver Daejon Reynolds has sent in his letter of intent.
9:38am: Wide receiver Marcus Burke has sent in his letter of intent.
10:52am: while there’s a bit of a lull in Signing Day activity (we do expect it to pick back up shortly), check out our podcast with Gator legend Shane Matthews!
11:22am: A couple of flips that Florida was kind of hoping for but not really expecting have officially not happened. Wide receiver Brashard Smith has decided to stick with Miami, while linebacker Keanu Koht has flipped from LSU… but not to Florida. Instead, he’ll play for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
11:26am: As alluded to earlier, Florida is really only in play for two new players today. Here is that list of them, complete with announcement times, where to watch the commitments if applicable and my predictions. The first of these is OLB Xavian Sorey (Bradenton, FL/IMG Academy), who announces at 1:45pm on ESPN2. DE Tunmise Adeleye (Katy, TX/Tompkins) will go at 8:30pm, probably on a live stream somewhere; stay tuned for a link to that. Florida is also expected to get a bunch more LOIs from currently committed players, so stay tuned for that.
11:36am: the first of those “bunch more LOIs” Florida is expecting that I alluded to in the last update has arrived. Defensive lineman Justus Boone has sent in his letter of intent.
11:51am: QB Jalen Kitna has sent in his letter of intent. That makes twelve young men who have undergone the transformation of commit to signee today.
Noon: The crown jewel of the 2021 class, cornerback Jason Marshall, has sent in his letter of intent.
12:32pm: Scooby is in the house! Defensive end Jeremiah Williams has sent in his letter of intent.
1:10pm: both Palmetto Boys are signed, sealed and delivered. Defensive back Corey Collier has sent in his letter of intent.
1:35pm: Outside linebacker Chief Borders has sent in his letter of intent. That makes sixteen commits-turned-signees on the day for Florida.
1:41pm: if you’re feeling really brave, go ahead and watch Xavian Sorey announce he’s signing with Georgia. Then sit back and watch Georgia fans crow about how they beat Florida out for him even though Florida wasn’t even really in the running for him down the stretch.
1:49pm: to nobody’s surprise, Sorey will play for Georgia.
2:01pm: Defensive back Jordan Young has sent in his letter of intent.
2:14pm: JUCO linebacker Diwun Black has sent in his letter of intent. This kid has a special story that I’m currently working on writing this week, but for now, know this: he’s as special of an athlete and a person as they come.
2:38pm: Defensive end Tyreak Sapp has sent in his letter of intent. That makes nineteen Gators to send LOIs in today, with a couple more anticipated.
2:44pm: QB Carlos Del Rio-Wilson (formerly Carlos Del Rio) has sent in his letter of intent. 20 of the 26 kids that began the day as Florida commits are now Florida signees.
6:10pm: Safety Dakota Mitchell has sent in his letter of intent. That makes him the 21st commit to become a signee.
9:30pm: Tunmise Adeleye has signed with Texas A&M, as expected.
