Gator Fans, Get Ready For A Barrage of Big Time Commitments

The Florida Gators have 15 commits already for the class of 2012. They’ve got 6 ESPNU Top 150 players among them. The class is ranked #4 in the country.

Are they finished?

Nah. They’re just hanging out, waiting for more.

Because there are a bunch of great players uncommitted, and quite a few of them feel that Florida will ultimately be their home following this past week’s Friday Night Lights.

“This was one of my best visits. The Swamp is a great place to be,” said five star receiver Stafon Diggs of Maryland. It sure seemed it. He performed Gator Chomps that rivalled the one Tim Tebow did in the BCS Championship against Oklahoma in animosity following a nice grab. And there were many nice grabs. He was the star attraction at the camp, dominating the entire night.

Jordan Jenkins, the 7th ranked defensive end in the class, spent last Friday as the little brother of Gator Buck linebacker Ronald Powell. And Powell told Jenkins exactly that: “You’ll be my little brother when you come here.” Jenkins’ dad said that “the Gators’ staff really rolled out the red carpet for my son. It really sunk in well with him. And he’s really getting tired by this whole process; he might even make a decision soon.”

Four star tackle Avery Young could not make it for Friday Night Lights, but did say that “I still feel real good about Florida. I’m still real high on the Gators. I haven’t had anything change.”

Florida State commit and five star defensive end, Dante Fowler, also attended and while he didn’t change his pledge, between his appearance and his statement that he would make an official visit to Florida later in the year, FSU fans have to be kind of edgy.

Four star cornerback Tracy Howard did not attend, but still “has a strong interest in Florida.”

And here’s the scary part for other teams. There may be more- and probably are- that kept quiet but are favoring Florida.

More big time recruits favoring a 15 man class? Uh oh.

It’s looking great for Gator recruiting.

  1. Boom and Weis are great recruiters and I know the staff we have in place are going to get the best talent. I love the Texas style recruiting get the players to commit early then hold on to them
