Five weeks after committing to South Carolina, consensus four-star linebacker recruit Jaden Robinson announced his intentions to stay home.
Robinson, from Lake City’s Columbia High School, was offered by Florida on July 3rd, one day before committing to Shane Beamer’s program in Columbia, SC. But Jay Bateman and the Gators stayed in hot pursuit of Robinson despite his commitment to South Carolina, and today their efforts were rewarded. Robinson declared that he had flipped to Florida.
Jaden Robinson has a solid offer list for someone rated where the various recruiting sites have him rated. LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Kentucky, and Tennesseee all extended a scholarship offer.
You can watch his high school highlights here.
Robinson is more than just a pickup for Billy Napier at a position of need at linebacker. He’s both quick and fast, with great acceleration and closing speed. He shows a nice ability to navigate through traffic, sift through the junk and find his way to the ball carrier- which gives his physicality and tackling abilities the chance to really shine.
In other words, Jaden Robinson is a complete package at linebacker. He’s solid or better at pretty much every trait you need to be solid at as a linebacker, and if his nose for the football can translate even somewhat to the college level, while he may need time to fully develop, he’s going to be hard to keep off the field for too long.
The addition of Jaden Robinson gives Florida its seventeenth commitment of the 2023 recruiting class, and re-jump-starts the momentum that Florida had built in July. The Gators landed eight different commitments in July, highlighted by quarterback Marcus Stokes, wide receiver Aidan Mizell, and running back Treyaun Webb.
Because of the fact that schools can take up to 32 signees in the 2023 class due to COVID complications in 2020, Florida might only be halfway done.
