Coaches will tell you that in every recruiting class, signing a quarterback is a need. For the Gators’ 2022 class, Dan Mullen just filled that need in the name of Nick Evers, who just committed with an announcement on twitter.
Evers is a consensus three star pro-style prospect from Flower Mound, Texas. He also had offers from Texas Tech, Auburn, Iowa, Louisville, Minnesota, Mississippi, TCU, Penn State and Virginia Tech.
Garrick McGee, Florida’s new quarterbacks coach, gets the credit here. Florida offered him five weeks ago and remained in hot pursuit the entire way, before Evers pulled the trigger this evening.
Evers’ arm lit up the scoreboards a year ago as a junior, completing 202 of 299 passes for 2,591 yards and 25 touchdowns through the air. Though listed as a pro-style QB, Evers has proven able to pick up yards on the ground as well in high school. He rushed 92 times for 246 yards a year ago for Flower Mound High School.

Nick Evers becomes the third commit of the Gators’ 2022 class, joining Francois Nolton and Syveion Ellis. That class is ranked 25th in the country according to the 247Sports Composite ratings.
