Florida picked up a major boost for its 2022 recruiting class with the addition of Tony Livingston.
Livingston, a consensus four star offensive tackle from Tampa, FL/Carrolwood Day announced his decision on twitter this evening. He also had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, FSU, LSU, Miami, USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas A&M and Oregon.
A supremely athletic tackle, Tony Livingston is also being recruited for his basketball skills. He plans to join Mike White’s Gator basketball team as a preferred walk-on.
But Livingston’s main sport is football, and his athleticism provides coaches with a great deal of excitement. He was initially recruited as a tight end before bulking up to around 265 lbs. and switching to the offensive line.
You can watch his high school tape here.
As you can see, his strength as well as his athleticism jumps off the screen. His quick feet and heavy hands can deliver nasty punches off the snap, and if he works on his technique, could easily be developed into an all-SEC caliber tackle. He does seem a little raw and inexperienced as a tackle for a highlight tape, and scouts do warn this is not an incorrect assessment. He may not be a day one-ready signee by the time Signing Day rolls around- he’s more of a project- but the upside is huge.
Livingston’s commitment gives the Gators four members of its 2022 class, and the second one this week after Nick Evers pulled the trigger two days ago.
