Not even three months after poaching QB Nick Evers from the Lone Star State, Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators rode west to Texas once again and pulled out another stud in Julian Humphrey, a consensus four star prospect from the Houston metropolitan area (Clear Lake, to be exact).
Humphrey announced his decision on twitter earlier today with a little video that likely won’t sit well with Texas A&M fans:
Humphrey, who goes by Julio, is a consensus four star prospect from Clear Lake with quite the offer list this early in the game. Aside from the Aggies, Penn State, Missouri, USC, Texas Tech, Baylor, LSU, Miami, and Washington are among the schools to offer him. Maybe his highlight tape has something to do with that.
The skinny on Humphrey is that he’s a football player who happens to also run track (as opposed to a track guy who tries to play football). That means he’s fast, and his tape will back that up. The tape also shows someone who’s extremely naturally athletic, has great ball skills and can close on a ball very quickly.
Standing 6’1, 185 lbs. means that Julian Humphrey has plenty of room to grow into his frame, of course, but that’s never a worry with high school kids the way that Nick Savage has proven able to build his players’ bodies.
With the addition of Humphrey, Florida’s 2022 recruiting class now consists of six players, and is now ranked #24 in the 247 Composite rankings. Of course, with many months to go until the Early Signing Period begins, there’s a lot of space to add more talent, so for those who may not be thrilled with that ranking, that number promises to rise significantly as the Gators add more members to their class.
