The Florida Gators’ 2026 recruiting class got off to a slow start, but maybe a June 1st commitment was exactly what it needed to pick up some steam.
Interior offensive lineman G’Nivre Carr (IMG Academy) has committed to Florida, giving the Gators their third commitment for 2026. In giving his verbal commitment, he joins defensive lineman Jamir Perez and QB Will Griffin. The two trenchmen both committed within two weeks of each other; Perez on May 18, and Carr on June 1.
Don’t let the three-star status fool you with G’Nivre Carr, either. Initially from Ocala, Carr was recruited to play for national powerhouse IMG Academy– and quickly garnered some major interest. As of publishing, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Washington, Miami, FSU, Texas A&M and USC all offered him scholarships.
Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama were said to be the other finalists.
You can watch his high school highlights here.
It’s never a surefire thing when you’re analyzing interior offensive linemen, but the potential for Carr is absolutely there. He’s listed at 6’4, 336, and he looks it– and he’s not afraid to throw that weight around in an effective manner. He also moves decently well for a guy that size, and with a little bit of coaching with his hand placement, it’s not difficult to envision him developing into a reliable starter at the SEC level.
The commitment of G’Nivre Carr could start a chain reaction. I mean, of course you have to figure Florida won’t just sit at three commits forever, but Florida is gaining some smoke with some other top prospects. Kaiden Hall– a consensus four-star prospect looking at Florida, Oklahoma, FSU and Alabama– is said to be among them, and in fact he just received a crystal ball to Florida on 247Sports.
So if indeed that happens, good for Billy Napier.
As is always the case with recruiting, though, on-field results are going to have the final say in how this class turns out– and in terms of both results on the field and on the recruiting trail, we’ll just have to see how things transpire.
