The NFL Draft saw four Gators get selected in the first six rounds. Not a particularly heavy year for Florida in the Draft, but not bad.
After Dominique Easley was picked by the New England Patriots on Thursday night in the first round (29 overall), three more Gators heard their name called over the weekend. The first of these was cornerback Jaylen Watkins, the first pick overall on Saturday, who went to the Eagles with their fourth round pick. After Watkins, it was Ronald Powell who heard his name called, getting picked by the Saints in the fifth round, and then Jon Halapio capped the Gators’ day by being selected by the Patriots in the sixth round.
Following the conclusion of the Draft, the following Gators signed NFL deals as free agents:
WR/FB Trey Burton (Philadelphia Eagles)
WR Solomon Patton (Tampa Bay)
DT Damien Jacobs (Buffalo Bills)
LB Darren Kitchens (Buffalo Bills)
CB Louchiez Purifoy (Denver Broncos)
OL Jon Harrison (Indianapolis Colts)
LS Kyle Koehne (Atlanta Falcons- tryout)
