After a fairly disappointing close to the 2022 recruiting class on National Signing Day, the Florida Gators have added one final piece to Billy Napier’s inaugural recruiting class: athlete Arlis Boardingham, from Van Nuys, CA.
Boardingham, a consensus three-star athlete, announced his commitment live on CBS Sports HQ, choosing Florida over Oregon. His commitment gives Florida eighteen signees out of high school, and locks up a top 20 class in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. When Billy Napier first stepped onto Gainesville soil, that class ranking was in the low 80’s.
Combined with six transfers from other schools, the Gators have now added 24 total players to its program for the 2022 season.
Arlis Boardingham was also offered by Texas, USC, Utah, Notre Dame, Washington, Virginia, Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado. You can watch his high school highlight tape here.
Boardingham played some defense in high school, but was recruited as a pass-catcher by both tight ends coach William Peagler and wide receivers coach Keary Colbert and projects best on offense at the next level. The athleticism he shows on his tape is certainly impressive, as is his ability to change direction and make catches in traffic. There’s always the wonder about how that will translate to the SEC, as he’s certainly not undersized but could also bulk up a little bit, but the potential for him to thrive is certainly there.
In any case, welcome aboard, Arlis!
