I’ve always wondered what the greatest play in Gator football history was. What better way to find out than by polling thousands of Gator fans?
So that’s what I’m going to do.
Here’s how it will work:
I’ve come up with a list of 64 of the greatest plays in Gator football history. Great can be defined in a number of ways: unbelievable skills being showcased, clutch, a key moment late in a big game, etc. Those three seem like red, yellow and blue on a gigantic color wheel, though, and so in coming up with the 64 plays, I did my best to balance it all out and cover every hue.
Anyway, I’ve sorted the 64 plays into a bracket, which you can see below. In order to accomplish the goal- finding out what you all think is the best play in Gator history- in a more timely manner, the bracket is set up sort of like the NCAA Baseball Tournament. Key word, sort of. There are three rounds, with four “plays” competing in a pool in each round; the play that gets the most votes moves onto the next stage. Plays that I felt are better received higher seeds for the initial round, but the voting is straight up; whichever play gets the most votes moves on. In the event of a tie, the higher seeded play moves on.
So how do you vote? Simple. Log onto twitter, and follow @Neil_Shulman (my personal account). If you don’t have twitter, create an account. It takes maybe 90 seconds. Small price to pay to have your voice heard. The reason this will be done on twitter, if you don’t know, is because twitter has a poll feature that’s incredibly easy to keep track of.
I’ll be posting one poll per day on twitter, and each poll gives you 24 hours to vote. Which means that I’ll be posting one poll of four plays, with the one you think is best moving on to the next stage. Here’s the bracket, which will be updated after each day and round:
We all have biases, we all have different opinions, and we all have different definitions of what makes a play great. But I’m anxious to see what happens when lots of people balance them all out.
And I’m anxious to see what this fan base thinks is the greatest play in Gator history.
