The rich just keep getting richer.
Florida just added their fifth cornerback to their 2017 class in Brian Edwards, a borderline three/four star out of Hollywood. The announcement completes the Gators’ hat trick over the Miami Hurricanes after Florida stole TJ Slaton this morning and then former Miami commit CJ Henderson earlier this afternoon.
Edwards also had offers from LSU, Oregon, Clemson, Colorado and Nebraska. You can watch his highlights here. He’s fast, physical and very good with the ball in the air. He’ll have quite the battle with his fellow freshman corners alone (Marco Wilson, Brad Stewart, Shawn Davis and Henderson) but his sure tackling ability would, if nothing else, make him a solid backup option. And given the heavy personnel losses the Gators suffered this year in the secondary, the defensive back position was a huge need for Florida. Which they filled.
The best news is that Florida still isn’t done today, with Adarius Lemons and Malik Young still to announce. Keep checking our live NSD tracker for more updates.
