The Gators kept another top lineman in state, but they’ll have to wait awhile to get him on campus.
Class of 2019 defensive lineman JaQuaze Sorrells (Largo, FL/Largo) has committed to Florida. Jim McElwain was so impressed by what he saw from the rising sophomore at a camp last night that he became the first to offer him, and was rewarded with an instant commitment.
Of course, there’s a LOT of time for him to flip or at least waver, but assuming he sticks, here’s what Florida is getting: a very athletic guy with a tremendous amount of time to improve before he gets on campus. The thinking was that if he’s this good now, wait until he grows and gets to campus. Then we’ll coach him up and make him better still. And the fact that UF offered before anybody else should serve as a deterrent if he ever gets another offer, say, from Alabama or Oklahoma.
So good job, Mac, and good job Chris Rumph. Keep it rolling.
