Score another one for Dan Mullen.
Florida has landed a commitment from offensive guard Riley Simonds (Buford, GA) after Simonds visited earlier this month. Simonds is a mammoth of a man at 6’4, 320, and was also offered by Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, LSU and Nebraska, among others.
Florida is going to lose a few pieces on its offensive line in the near future, between Martez Ivey, Tyler Jordan and possibly a few juniors leaving early, so the potential for early playing time is there for him. And he can play. Simonds is pretty quick for a guy his size, not just off the snap but in his footwork as a whole. To boot, he delivers a pretty nasty punch and plays with good pad level.
You can watch his highlights here.
Simonds previously stated that he was going to commit to the school that provided the best education and best set him up for life aside from football. His three finalists were Florida, Missouri and Virginia Tech; Florida is, objectively speaking, the most prestigious academic university of those three, and one of the best public universities in the nation.Hey
