Jim McElwain picked up his 20th commit of its Class of 2016 today, as consensus four star safety Jeawon Taylor (Montgomery, AL/Park Crossing) has committed to Florida. He becomes the sixth defensive back in the class, along with Quincy Lenton, Chauncey Gardner, Aaron Robinson, Chris McWilliams, and Jayvaughn Myers, who just committed yesterday.
Taylor also has offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Louisville, Missouri and Mississippi. He is Florida’s third recruit in this class from the state of Alabama, after Lamical Perine and Jeremiah Moon.
You can watch his highlight tape here.
His physical attributes are certainly Gator material. He runs a sub 4.5 40 yard dash by all accounts, and stands 6’1 and 195 lbs. And he displays good instincts in his highlight tape, which makes me confident in adding him to Florida’s defensive backfield depth chart. Again, Florida will be down Vernon Hargreaves and Brian Poole when Taylor arrives on campus, so there’s going to be an opportunity for Taylor to play immediately upon arrival.
Just keep on rollin’, Mac. You’re doing great.
