It may be one of the slowest times for sports in recent memory, but the inverse has been the case in the world of Gator football recruiting.
2021 cornerback Jordan Young (Tampa, FL/Gaither) has committed to Florida. A consensus three star prospect with offers from Alabama, FSU, Virginia and FSU, Gaither becomes Florida’s 20th commit of the 2021 class and the third in four days. The Gators added Dakota Mitchell on Thursday and re-gained Kamar Wilcoxson for the third time on Friday.
For Young, all signs pointed to Florida from awhile out. He has built a great relationship with cornerbacks coach Torrian Gray, his dad has always been a “die hard Florida fan” and he even went as far to call Florida his “dream school.” So with that in mind, it’s not exactly a surprise, but a welcome addition to an already loaded 2021 class that now includes three cornerbacks: Young, Wilcoxson and Clinton Burton.
And though that class is ranked in the top ten by both Rivals and 247, several of Florida’s top targets are still at large, meaning that if the Gators’ staff finishes strong, Florida might finally pull in that consensus top five class its fans have been clamoring for since the Urban Meyer days.
