Florida’s 2019 recruiting class now has more members than its 2018 class.
Making the move today was Tyrique Stevenson, a consensus four star athlete from Homestead, FL and high school teammate of fellow Gator commit Frank Ladson. Stevenson only has two other FBS offers (from FAU and UCF) but dozens of other schools have shown interest in him. But Jim McElwain reached out and extended the offer before any of them did, and was rewarded with a verbal commitment.

Stevenson was recruited primarily by Corey Bell, who first recruited him to FAU when he worked for the Owls last year. But given that Stevenson has been a Gator fan since he was in sixth grade, it probably wasn’t that difficult to convince him.
And when you watch his tape, you can see why other schools might be regretting their failure to offer him. In a word, he’s versatile.
Despite the ATH label, Stevenson projects best as a cornerback but also has the range and raw physicality needed to be a safety. He rarely goes for the highlight reel hit, electing instead to go low and make the sure tackle, and because of his impressive combination of speed and strength can bring a tremendous amount of force. To top it off, he’s got great ball skills and athleticism.
Now let’s see if Florida can keep improving on its class of 2018.
