The Gators’ Signing Day is off to a good start.
American Heritage offensive lineman Tedarrell (TJ) Slaton has committed to Florida. He signed with the Gators over Georgia and Miami, and holds offers from all the college football leviathans: Alabama, FSU, LSU, Mississippi, Michigan, Clemson, and so on. By signing with Florida, Slaton joins his teammates Marco Wilson and James Houston as the third Gator from American Heritage.
You can find his highlight tape here.
Slaton has the opportunity to play right away, given the always fluctuating status of the Gators’ offensive line. A guard by nature, Slaton is a powerful guy who really explodes off the snap and delivers a ferocious initial punch, and he’s got quick feet to boot. Florida has had a lot of success with freshmen on the offensive line the last few years (Martez Ivey, Tyler Jordan, Jawaan Taylor) so there’s nothing stopping me from believing that Slaton can join them.
So the Gators definitely got off to a great start by landing an instant impact guy, but there’s a lot more to watch for today- so just keep checking for our live updates!
