Looks like Will Muschamp just snatched another one- this time at the expense of his old boss, Nick Saban and Alabama.
Highly touted linebacker Adonis Thomas (Lawrenceville, GA/Central Gwinnett HS) committed to Florida last night. He only had two hats on the table, Florida and Alabama, and had been considered a long time Gator lean (at least to me). But however surprised or not surprised you may be, it’s a huge pickup for Florida.
Thomas joins Jerome Baker to form the nation’s top linebacker tandem in the class of 2015. With seniors Neiron Ball and Michael Taylor leaving after the 2014 season, two slots open up. Thomas and Baker will have a lot of competition for those two slots (from Matt Rolin, Daniel McMillian and Jarrad Davis), but that’s never a bad thing- all of these guys are extremely talented, and whoever wins those two jobs will have earned it. This defense is getting to be like Nick Saban’s- whenever somebody leaves, the hole simply gets plugged with the next guy.
Now, if only the offense can get there, this program can really get going.
