With only one week to go until National Signing Day, Florida is looking to close with as many of their top targets as possible. So in a sort of updated version of last week’s article on the same topic, let’s discuss:
CB Kristian Fulton: Fulton is being recruited pretty hard by Gator signee Chauncey Gardner, which should help immensely. He is indeed set to visit Florida this weekend, despite some reports to the contrary. He also likes making waves on twitter, as he tweeted current Gator corner Jalen Tabor “imagine us on the same field” a week after tweeting “the Swamp for real bruh” without any prompting. So, take that how you want. The Gators not having a defensive backs coach right now certainly isn’t helping, and both LSU and Arkansas are still very much in the mix for him, but as the old adage goes: commit to a school, not a coach. Thus, I say Fulton picks Florida.
WR Tyrie Cleveland: The current Houston commit has to be listening to what Florida has to say. He’s taking his official visit to UF this weekend, and he’s the last big time receiver Florida is really in the mix for. There are other schools in hot pursuit, but the Gators get to be the last ones in his ear- and I say that makes the difference. I’m going with Florida to flip him from Houston and hold off TCU and Arkansas.
TE Nick Eubanks: Eubanks missed his official visit to Florida last weekend because he was sick. No matter; he simply canceled previously scheduled visits to Miami and USC in order to reschedule it for this weekend along with Cleveland. This also means Florida will be his last visit before he makes his final decision. He’ll be deciding between Florida, Alabama and Michigan, but the Gators getting his final visit is huge. Florida’s chances with him are increasing with each passing day.
WR Nate Craig: Once a real high priority for the Gators, Craig has slipped to an afterthought on the Gators’ board; Florida seems to be almost out of the race entirely here. Auburn and UNC appear to be waging a one-on-one war for Craig’s services.
LB Mack Wilson: Florida, Alabama and Georgia are Wilson’s final three. That’s about all we know for sure about this kid. As I said last week, Wilson loves to troll people foolish enough to buy his every word. If forced to guess where he goes, I’d say Alabama- but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up at Florida or Georgia.
DE Brian Burns: The only thing stopping me from exhibiting public confidence about Burns picking Florida is that FSU gets his last visit. But he really enjoyed his visit to UF last weekend, and has been sold on the possibility of being able to play immediately as a freshman by defensive line coach Chris Rumph. He’s also high school teammates with Eubanks, and the more Eubanks likes Florida, well, hey, the more it helps with Burns. My prediction is a somewhat confident one- he’s a Gator.
